Join us for a two-part discussion of the environmental, human health, and community impacts associated with shale gas drilling and development (fracking).

Part 1: July 12 – Fracking Waste Management

11 a.m. – 1  p.m.

The first webinar will discuss fracking waste streams including brine, flowback fluid, and drill cuttings and drilling muds. It will include an overview of how these wastes are disposed of and some of the problems associated with such disposal.

Presenters:

  • Melanie Houston of the Ohio Environmental Council
  • Teresa Mills with the Center for Health, Environment and Justice (CHEJ)
  • Dr. Julie Weatherington-Rice of Bennett and Williams, Inc.

Part 2: July 19 – The Economics of Fracking

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The second webinar will discuss the economic realities of fracking including economic costs, long term implications of resource extraction, and a summary of interviews covering economic impacts in the gaslands of Ohio (Carroll County).
